Jen Morris, Bio
I grew up in rural Southwestern Pennsylvania. The landscape around me was characterized by struggling farms, closing steel mills, and collapsing coal mines. Globalization, consequent deindustrialization, and perpetual attempts at reinvention described the culture I lived within. Because of this experience, I am ever curious about how personal and public spheres of memory intersect, and how we define and curate an understanding of ourselves and our society in time. My practice embraces research.
I earned my BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, and my MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a Merit Scholar, Weinstein Memorial Fellowship recipient, and Graduating Fellowship awardee. I am now based in rural New England.
